NACFO National Association of Collegiate Football Officials |

The Board of Directors of the National Association of Collegiate Football Officials (NACFO) recently voted to dissolve the organization. Originally formed as the National Association of Division 1-A Football Officials (NADFO), the organization voted in early 2010 to expand to include college football officials at all levels. Its mission was to act as a spokesperson for the interests of college officials throughout the country and to work to improve the game of college football and football officiating. Although it can point with pride to a number of impressive achievements, NACFO was never able to accomplish its main goal, which was to obtain the kind of acceptance by the NCAA and College Football Officiating, LLC (CFO) that would have enabled the formation of a true NCAA/CFO/NACFO partnership for the common goal of improving football officiating. Because this was deemed vital to the accomplishment of NACFO’s mission and because recent communications and events had made it increasingly clear that this goal would not be accomplished in the foreseeable future, several officials’ associations withdrew from the organization. Without continuing support of all associations, the members voted to dissolve NACFO. The organization will distribute remaining funds totaling in excess of $8000 to the following four non profit organizations: Prostrate Cancer Foundation V Foundation for Cancer Research Special Olympics USA Buoniconti Fund – The Miami Project to Cure Paralysis NACFO Board of Directors
